You seldom speak,
You mostly make a funny noise to make me laugh.
When i was young and got scolded by my parents,
You would flex the muscles on your belly and show me how strong a real man should be.
When ever i cried or had a over-reacting sweet tooth, you would never fail to pull out an ice cream from the ice box that was mounted on your bicycle--My favourite mobile ice cream stall.
Whenever u sweat during your job,
You'd never ask for help from anyone, in fear of troubling us.
And I, have never understood your pain.
As i grew, i took your presence for granted and thought that you would always be there to pacify me.
Until the day you fell ill.
I told you that i wanted to be by your side when u leave.
Somehow you knew that I did'nt want you to go during a 2 weeks time span of my birthday like what happened to my paternal grand father. And so you fought on.
Somehow you knew that I had exams and could'nt be by your side. And so you fought on.
You fought to a point where the time was ripe, where my exams just ended and I could be with you.
I watched as you took your last breath on your deathbed.
I cried; partially in sadness, partially in gratitude.
You fought to prolong your life so that you can fufil my wishes.
You were the first person to do such a noble thing for me.
You were a quiet man.
You were a family man.
You were a great husband.
You were a wonderful father.
You were a patient grand father
You will always be in my heart.
If only i could send you a SMS, just to tell you hw much i love you.
But i guess that is no longer possible.
I Love You, Ah Gong.
Mr Chong Kee Hock, my grandfather, passed away on 14th may 2008, 06:52 am. He was a great man who loved every single one of his grandchildren.
